Donetsk, Aug 1 - DAN. A commission of United Donbass Foundation has approved nearly 180 financial aid applications from residents of DPR and Kiev-held territory since the start of its operation, Foundation chairman Oleg Balykin told a news briefing at Donetsk News Agency on Tuesday.

“Overall, the Commission approved 177 applications to pay 5,306,850 rubles of financial aid in total. Ninety-one recipients live in Kiev-held part of Donetsk Region and another 86 are DPR residents,” Balykin said.

The Commission has met seven times to review applications since the start of operation. At the latest meeting on 28 July it approved 72 financial aid requests, including 35 from residents of Kiev-controlled areas.

“These applicants are entitled to a total of 2,249,900 rubles worth of financial aid (31,000  rubles per person, on the average). The aid package includes 1,129,900 rubles for residents of Kiev-held areas and 1,120,000 rubles for DPR residents. Latest recipient list payments are due to begin as early as this week,” Balykin said.

DPR launched United Donbass Foundation on 9 March 2017 as part of the Donbass people reunification programmes approved by DPR and LPR heads Alexander Zakharchenko and Igor Plotnitskiy on 17 February 2017.

The programme envisions cash payments and provision of food and medications which can also be contributed by DPR residents. Nine groups are eligible for assistance, including persons in the 1st and 2nd disability categories, single parent families with children up to 18 years of age, families with three or more children up to 18 years of age, citizens aged over 65 and some other groups.

As of now, 103 people have received financial aid.*jk
