Donetsk, Oct 24 - DAN. United Donbass Foundation Commission has approved 28 million rubles worth of financial assistance to 960 residents of the region since the start of its operation in March 2017, Foundation chairman Oleg Balykin told a news briefing at Donetsk News Agency on Tuesday.

“The Foundation has approved 959 applications overall to allocate a total of 28,069,840 rubles worth of financial assistance,” Balykin said. “It paid 14, 847, 045 rubles to 495 residents of Kiev-controlled part of Donetsk region and 13,222,795 rubles to 464 residents of the Donetsk People’s Republic.”

The Foundation’s Commission last met on 20 October 2017 when it approved a total of 286,000 rubles of financial aid to 126 applicants. The payments on the latest applications are due to begin within the next few days.

DPR launched United Donbass Foundation on 9 March 2017 as part of the Donbass people reunification programmes approved by DPR and LPR heads Alexander Zakharchenko and Igor Plotnitskiy on 17 February 2017.

The programme envisions cash payments and provision of food and medications which can also be contributed by DPR residents. Nine groups are eligible for assistance, including persons in the 1st and 2nd disability categories, single parent families with children up to 18 years of age, families with three or more children up to 18 years of age, citizens aged over 65 and some other groups.*jk
