Donetsk, Jul 4 — DAN. Five civilians have been killed, 13 injured over the past day as Ukrainian forces opened fire on the DPR, the Republic’s Mission to the JCCC said.

The enemy used heavy artillery, MLRS systems, mortars, and IFVs, firing a total of 255 rounds.

Air defence alarms went off in several towns, the missiles were intercepted, their debris falling in Donetsk and Makeyevka.

“Five people have been killed by Ukrainian armed formations fire, 13 others sustained injuries, including two girls born in 2011 and 2007,” the report reads.

The majority of victims are from Makeyevka.

Seven others were injured, including a teenaged girl.

Multiple households and infrastructure facilities have been damaged as a total of 16 cities and towns came under fire.

The morning reports issued by the JCCC exclude information on casualties in the areas where active military action is ongoing.

Russia started a special military operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the decision was made after the DPR and LPR Heads addressed him asking for help.

The Russian leader said that Moscow is not planning to occupy Ukrainian territory, the only goal is to protect people who have been continuously shelled and subjected to other forms of genocide by Ukraine for eight years. *ot
