Donetsk, May 18 - DAN. Ukrainian forces fired 219 mortar rounds at DPR frontline areas over the past 24 hours, DPR Operations Command deputy commander Eduard Basurin said on Tuesday.

“On Donetsk axis, the enemy fired 100 120mm mortar rounds and 103 82mm mortar rounds at 14 settlements and adjacent areas,” Basurin said. “On Mariupol axis, Bezymennoye was the most heavily shelled settlement targeted with eight 120mm and 82mm mortar rounds, grenade launchers and small arms.”

According to the DPR Operations Command, eight mortar rounds were fired at three settlements outside Gorlovka.

Earlier, the Operations Command said Ukrainian forces violated the ceasefire 41 times over the past 24 hours.

DPR military officials said Ukrainian forces increased the number of strikes at the Republic’s territory as chief of Ukrainian armed forces General Staff Viktor Muzhenko came to the zone of so-called “anti-terrorist operation.” *jk
