Donetsk, Apr 28 - DAN. Ukraine’s Border Service has been keeping Ukrainian Security Council (SBU) officers from coming to the venue of the meeting with the relatives of detained DPR militiamen for more than an hour, DPR ombudswoman Darya Morozova said.
“POW verification has to begin today, but Ukraine’s Border Service has been keeping the SBU officers waiting for more than an hour, delaying the procedure,” Morozova said.
She expressed the hope that verification would take place and that Kiev would not violate the accords reached at the meeting of the humanitarian subgroup in Minsk.
Earlier on Friday, a group of four women who are relatives of detained DPR militiamen went to the Maryinka crossing point west of Donetsk where SBU officers had to meet them and ensure their safety throughout the verification procedure.
Verification determines if the prisoners, upon their release, wish to stay in Ukraine or in Donbass republics. The procedure was discussed for a long time in the Belarussian capital as part of the accords on all-for-all prisoner exchange and amnesty for all Donbass conflict participants. *jk
