Donetsk, Jun 17 — DAN. Ukrainian armed formations have fired more than 230 rounds of ammunition at the Donetsk People’s Republic on Thursday killing a civilian.

Military situation

Kiev forces opened fire at the DPR at midnight targeting ten settlements including Donetsk, Makeyevka, Gorlovka and Yasinovataya. Five of Donetsk’s nine districts came under fire including the Proletarsky district, the farthest from the frontline. The enemy fired “Uragan” multiple rocket launchers at it damaging a college and two vocational schools. No casualties were reported. The center of the city which accommodates many office buildings and state-owned organizations and northwestern Donetsk were shelled as well.

In the course of the day, Ukrainian army units opened fire at the Republic with 155mm (NATO standard), 152mm and 122mm field artillery and mortars. A woman was killed in a strike at Yasinovataya and at least seven civilians including a child were wounded in Donetsk; on top of that, nine houses, a school, a sewing shop and office rooms were damaged.

Coalition forces have killed 47 gunmen and destroyed two “Grad” multiple rocket launchers and three army trucks; more than 280 gunmen and two ammunition dumps near Razdolovka (Artyomovsk axis) were destroyed in strikes by Russian Air Space Forces; Russian air defense units intercepted “Uragan” MLRS missiles by Donetsk, Dokuchayevsk, Yasinovataya and Sukhaya Kamenka.

International review

DPR Head Denis Pushilin said that supplies of new weapons to Kiev are forcing the Republic not to stop at its constitutional borders in order to protect its residents from Ukrainian strikes.

The DPR’s participation in St Petersburg International Economic Forum is an important event. In 2022, the Republic became an official SPIEF participant for the first time. The delegation led by the DPR leader arrived in St Petersburg on June 14. It met with St Petersburg governor Alexander Beglov to discuss Mariupol rebuilding specifics. On Thursday, Pushilin and Tula region governor Alexey Dyumin discussed the assistance to Mariupol. The parties signed a cooperation memorandum; a similar document was signed with the Moscow region which would provide assistance to the DPR’s Novoazovsky and Telmanovsky district. Pushilin and Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Aisen Nikolayev discussed the assistance to the town of Kirovskoye. The DPR leader and Head of the Sirius Education Centre project Yelena Shemeva discussed the participation of Donbass children in “Sirius” projects.

Chairman of the Executive Committee of the All-Russia People’s Front (ONF) Mikhail Kuznetsov said that the ONF and the “United Russia” party would coordinate Donbass’ economic integration into Russia.

Another DPR delegation led by DPR Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova is currently on a visit to Syria. On Thursday, it met with Syrian President Bashar Assad. The key outcome was Assad’s instruction to begin the procedure to recognize the independence of the Republic. Nikonorova invited Damascus to participate in the international tribunal for Ukrainian gunmen.

Humanitarian situation

The “Phoenix” mobile operator announced new phone plans for calls on home network and to Russia. The DPR is expected to fully transfer to the Russian country code  +7 in the near future.

DPR residents are allowed to pay their utility bills both in Russian rubles and Ukrainian hryvnias. The settlements are made at the rate two rubles per one hryvnia.

The DPR Supreme Court forwarded a translated copy of the verdict to the foreign mercenaries explaining when it would enter into force. The defense can appeal within a month. A date for hearing the appeal is set within two months.

The road between Debaltsevo and the recently liberated Svetlodarsk has been demined, but it is still fired upon. A bus service along this route will be launched as soon as this stretch has been made safe.

Shakhtyorsk authorities will temporarily administer the settlements of Luganskoye and Novoluganskoye and the Rassadki village.
