Donetsk, Jul 28 — DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic Head Denis Pushilin has conveyed his best wishes to DPR residents on the occasion of the 1034th anniversary of Christianization of Rus.
“This date displayed historical truth to the world: the unity of Slavic peoples and the whole Russian world despite the aggressive policy of the West which is trying to divide the Russians, ” Pushilin wrote on his official Telegram channel.
“Today, Moscow, Donetsk, Lugansk and Kiev are marking the Christianization of Rus. We are brothers in faith, history and culture. These ties are invaluable. Prince Vladimir was the first gatherer of Russian lands; he brought together separate territories understanding that it was a token of Rus power and prosperity. He passed this wisdom to us and the bequest to keep peace and unity between ourselves, ” he said.
The baptism of Rus determined the future of Russian statehood in many ways, and influenced the formation of characteristic features of our people such as faith, mutual help and mercy, Pushilin said.
The DPR leader said that truth would ultimately triumph and that the seeds of discord would be rooted out as “all of us are linked with eternal imperishable values and love for our native land.”
Day of Baptism of Rus is marked on July 28 as Day of Saint Prince Vladimir the Equiapostolic. The Order of Saint Vladimir is a DPR state award which Pushilin established by this date last year.*jk
