Donetsk, Sep 14 - DAN. Experts of the inter-departmental Commission on the search for missing persons found and retrieved the remains of 28 people from a mass grave in Snezhnoye, the office of the Donetsk People’s Republic ombudswoman Darya Morozova reported on Tuesday.
On September 13, remains of seven people were exhumed from an unmarked grave in the Ovsyanoye cemetery,” the report said. “A search group of the inter-departmental commission has been examining the location since August 18. The remains of 28 people have been extracted from the grave over this period. They were sent to a forensic laboratory.”
The commission is working on finding the victims’ relatives. “It’s important for further identification of the victims who were apparently civilians as their clothing shows,” the ombudswoman’s office said.
The exhumation in the Snezhnoye cemetery will continue on September 15.
Earlier reports said that a search for mass graves was underway in Debaltsevo.
The inter-departmental Commission on the search for missing persons and burial sites of Donbass armed conflict victims was set up in early August. It includes DPR Head Administration officials, prosecutors and representatives of the Interior Ministry, Emergencies Ministry, State Security Ministry and other government bodies. The Commission is led by ombudswoman Darya Morozova.*jk
