Donetsk, Jul 27 — DAN. War criminals responsible for child victims of the Donbass war must be held accountable, the DPR Head Denis Pushilin said on Wednesday, on the Remembrance Day for Child Victims of the Donbass War.
“In eight years of the war, 130 children have been killed. It’s hard to describe the feeling of tragedy and pain. July 27 2014 is one of the most tragic days in the modern history of Donbass,” he said.
On this day eight years ago a mother and her toddler, Kira Zhuk, were killed in the Gorlovka shelling, the one-year-old becoming the first child victim of the conflict.
Four more kids were killed on the same day.
“We remember all the children killed, whose names are engraved on the granite in the Alley of Angels in Donetsk,” Pushilin said.
A number of commemorative events are to take place across the DPR and in Moscow today.
Flowers can be brought to the Alley of Angels in Donetsk, set up in the memory of killed children. All the 130 names of the child victims will be projected on the Pushkinskiy business centre in central Donetsk in the evening.
