Donetsk, Jun 23 – DAN. The verification of detainees in Donbass has been finalized, said DPR Ombudswoman Daria Morozova commenting on the humanitarian subgroup of the Contact Group meeting in Minsk on June 21.

"The agreement has been reached to recognize the results of the verification, so I can announce it has been completed. We have revealed people who have not confirmed the renounce of the exchange, previously signed under the pressure of Ukrainian special services."

DPR, LPR and Ukraine started the verification of POWs on April 28, 2017 as the group of four relatives of detained persons held in Ukraine crossed into Ukraine through Maryinka checkpoint.

On May 7 Ukrainian side unilaterally cancelled the verification process.

It was resumed on May 15, the detainees received questionnaires and filled them in themselves to confirm or dismiss the renounce of participation in exchanges.

The verification determined where the prisoners, upon their release, wish to stay in Ukraine or in Donbass Republics. It has been discussed for a long time as part of the ongoing efforts to implement agreements on all-for-all prisoner exchange and amnesty for all Donbass conflict participants.*ot
