Donetsk, Sep 28 - DAN. The firefighting operation continued at the Zasyadko coal mine in Donetsk on Tuesday, the Donetsk People’s Republic Emergencies Ministry press service reported.
“As of 06:00, September 28, the person who had failed to come to the surface had not been found,” the press service said. “Active fire-fighting efforts continue; rescuers are withdrawing and cooling the burning segments of supports and smoldering rock. Gas monitoring and underground air sampling are ongoing.”
The fire at the Zasyadko mine’s eastern belt road broke out in the evening on September 23. There were 61 workers underground at the time, including 26 in the affected area. All the coalminers except one were evacuated to the surface by the morning of the next day. *jk
