Donetsk, Jul 27 – DAN. Millions that Kiev spends on the construction of checkpoints in the zone of armed operation show that Ukraine is going to freeze the Donbas conflict for years, a DPR MP Roman Malyutin told DAN.

"Kiev's intention to build long-lasting constructions at the checkpoints means that Kiev gets ready for alasting conflict. Actions speak louder than words: it seems that statements of Ukrainian politicians on Donbass reintegration are fake. Kiev is getting ready for a decades-long siege of the DPR," he said.

Malyutin said that the large-scale building might also be a means of money laundering. The plans might remain on paper while the funds are stolen.

Earlier reports said that Kiev authorities allocate 10 mln hryvnia for reconstruction and upgrading of the Maryinka checkpoint: the plan provides for building of a waiting hall for pedestrians, vehicle inspection zone, furnished modules with air conditioning and toilets with cold and hot running water. Similar upgrades were to be completed at all the four checkpoints.

There are currently four checkpoints in operation for pedestrian and motor traffic between Ukraine and the Donetsk People’s Republic: Elenovka-Novotroitsk (southwest of Donetsk, southern direction), Mayorsk-Mayorskoye (outside Gorlovka, northern direction), Oktyabr-Gnutovo (DPR south, southern direction) and Aleksandrovka-Maryinka (west of Donetsk, western direction). *ot
