Donetsk, Dec 23 – DAN. Ukrainian armed forces opened fire on Debaltsevo residential areas using heavy weapons, a kindergarten, a school and at least five residential houses are damaged, the town administration press service said.
"In the daytime Ukrainian armed forces opened fire on Debaltsevo residential areas using heavy weapons. Walls of a kindergarten that has recently been restored sustained a number of hits, windows were shattered. At least five residential houses damaged," the interlocutor said.
There was no information on casualties available.
"Debaltsevo acting mayor Alexander Reingold called an emergency meeting."
Operations Command deputy commander Colonel Eduard Basurin said that the fire was opened from Kiev forces positions on Svetlodarsk outskirts and Mironovskiy township, using 152mm artillery.
A church in the center of Debaltsevo was also hit.
The situation in Debaltsevo area has recently deteriorated dramatically. On December 21 Ukrainian forces targeted the town for the first time since February 2015. That time four buildings were damaged.
Earlier today Debaltsevo authorities reported shelling on the outskirts. *ot
