Donetsk, Nov 9 – DAN. DPR authorities are not going to resume the operation of all the checkpoints on the contact line with Ukraine, only Elenovka checkpoint will be operating as a humanitarian corridor, the DPR Committee on Preventing the COVID-19 Spread said.
Earlier in the day Ukraine announced that the Gnutovo, Novotroitskoye, Maryinka, Mayorskoye checkpoints, as well as the Stanitsa Luganskaya, Schastye and Zolotoye (LPR-Ukraine) will reopen on November 10.
"We draw the residents' attention to the fact that only Elenovka checkpoint is operating on the days designated by the Emergency Committee on Preventing the COVID-19 Spread."
Ukraine put lives at risk, the statement adds, as new COVID-19 regulations describe some areas of the Donetsk Region as extremely hazardous due to the surge in the coronavirus cases.
"Regardless, Kiev opens all the checkpoints. Such uncoordinated steps previously resulted in tragedies, as in June 2020 when hundreds of people stuck in the "grey zone" in hot weather."
Elenovka checkpoint currently opens twice a week as a humanitarian corridor. Gnutovo, Novotroitskoye, Maryinka remain closed doe to the pandemic. *ot
