Donetsk, Aug 21 - DAN. Ukraine has alleged a new victory as it claimed taking the Shumy village outside Gorlovka which has actually been under its control for the past four years, the Donetsk People’s Republic Operations Command told the Donetsk News Agency.

“On August 20, Ukrainian lawmaker Dmitriy Tymchuk said that Ukrainian servicemen had taken under control the Shumy village in the “grey zone” outside Gorlovka as well as ten square kilometres of territory,” an Operations Command officer said.

“The Ukrainian side has become entangled in lies over four years. Their new “victory” presented as the seizure of a settlement in the Gorlovka area is not worth a penny.  The Shumy village located next to Kiev-controlled Dzerzhinsk (in the vicinity of Gorlovka - eds DAN) has been controlled by the Ukrainian army since August 2014.  The reports alleging its seizure cause bewilderment,” he said.

Shumy is located northwest of Gorlovka one kilometre from the contact line. It had a population of 100 before the fighting broke out in the region. The settlement is regularly mentioned in DPR Operations Command reports. Ukrainian army units positioned in the Shumy area have repeatedly shelled the frontline Gorlovka.*jk
