Donetsk, Jul 23 - DAN. Repairs on the Seversky Donets - Donbass canal water pipe damaged in shelling by Ukrainian forces began in Gorlovka on Thursday morning, the Donetsk People’s Republic Office at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination (JCCC) said.

Earlier reports said that several stretches of the 2300mm and 2100mm water pipe running from the 3rd level pumping station of the Seversky Donets - Donbass canal were damaged in Gorlovka as the area came under mortar strikes by Ukrainian forces on Wednesday. The accident caused a decrease in water supply across the whole DPR territory.

“Ukraine provided the necessary security guarantees; water pipe repairs began in the morning,” the JCCC said.

The Severskiy Donets - Donbass canal is the key water supply source in the region. The canal was repeatedly shelled by Ukrainian forces which caused constant water supply interruptions.*jk*pp
