Donetsk, Nov 25 – DAN. Kiev forces have been shelling Yasinovataya section of Donetsk water treatment plant since morning, a defense source told Donetsk News Agency.

"At about 8 a.m. the Ukrainian side opened fire on Donetsk water treatment plant in Yasinovataya area. The shelling is ongoing," the source said.

According to the source, demining activities were to start in the plant area to provide safe passages for its staff.

Public utility company Donbass Water press service confirmed the shelling and the demining plans.

"The plant's staff is in a bomb shelter," the press service said.

Power transmission lines were damaged on November, 20th by Kiev forces strikes, causing power outage to Yasinovataya section of Donetsk water treatment plant and disrupting water supply to Yasinovataya and Avdeevka (currently under Ukrainian armed forces control), putting at risk water supply to Donetsk, Elenovka and Dokuchayevsk. The plant resumed operation on 21 November.

Donetsk water treatment plant where about 4 tons of chlorine are stored is situated between occupied Avdeevka and Yasinovataya. The plant's area that has been shelled multiple times is one of the hottest spots on the contact line in Donbass.
