Donetsk, Sep 22 — DAN. Russia’s Investigative Committee (SK) has brought charges in absentia against two Ukrainian army generals whose orders to shell Donbass resulted in the death or injury of 154 civilians, the SK reported on its official website.

“Maj-Gen Viktor Nikolyuk and Lt-Gen Mikhail Drapaty exercised overall command of the operation of Ukraine’s joint forces in 2017 and 2019, said the report which following a session of SK officials in the Donetsk People’s Republic. ‘Under their leadership, Ukrainian gunmen delivered more than 70 strikes at settlements in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics killing or wounding 154 people and damaging more than 460 civil infrastructure facilities.’

Twenty-five nationals from Australia, Austria, Argentina, Belgium and other countries were charged in absentia within the criminal case over mercenarism. The SK is looking for the suspects. Overall, criminal prosecution has been launched against more than 200 foreign nationals.

Earlier reports said that the DPR Prosecutor General’s Office had filed more than 400 criminal cases since the beginning of this year against 12 Ukrainian army commanders including Mikhail Drapaty who are responsible for shelling DPR areas.*jk
