Donetsk, Aug 20 – DAN. Two-day meetings of the humanitarian subgroup in Minsk might lead to detailed discussion of the agenda, for the first time in a long while, said DPR representative in the group Daria Morozova.

"We pin high hopes on this meeting. Meaningful dialog has been missing on the Ukrainian part for a long time, either due to their absence or to derailment of talks. We hope two-day round of consultations shall finally allow to discuss the agenda in full," she said.

The Ombudswoman said that the main goal of the two-day meeting is search for a compromise on a new stage of prisoner exchange (the latest took place in Donbass on December 27, 2017). According to her, Kiev's authorized representatives in the subgroup Irina Geraschenko and Viktor Medvedchuk should be present to ensure the meaningful dialog.

"It is very important as Ukrainian side has announced multiple times that Medvedchuk himself is responsible for the issue of the POW swap. In practice, I can say, the issue is discussed formally in his absence."

The issue of a joint search for missing persons and signing the declaration against torture shall also be discussed.

Another round of talks of the Contact Group is scheduled for August 22. DPR top negotiator Denis Pushilin said the subgroups for security, political issues and humanitarian issues would have two-day meetings starting August 21. *ot
