Donetsk, Feb 22 - DAN. Medics working under the aegis of the Donbass people reunification humanitarian programme have saved the lives of some 600 people, said DPR leader Alexander Zakharchenko at a joint briefing with acting LPR Head Leonid Pasechnik on Thursday.

“I’d like to note success in health care; some 600 people received medical aid, this programme saved these people’s lives, supporting as many as it could,” Zakharchenko said.

Earlier on Thursday, Zakharchenko said more than 18,000 Donbass residents have participated in the humanitarian programme since it was launched.

DPR and LPR have been implementing the humanitarian programme since 17 February 2017. It provides for medical and financial assistance, quotas for higher and vocational education for residents of Kiev-held areas, and their involvement, together with DPR population in sport and cultural events and measures aimed to preserve spiritual and cultural values in the region. *jk
