Donetsk, Jul 28 — DAN. The first hearing of the case against the “SS bears” group of Ukrainian gunmen has been scheduled for August 1, a well-informed source told the Donetsk News Agency on Thursday.

“The first hearing of the ‘SS Bears’ case will take place on August 1, ” the source said.

Another well-informed source said that the hearing of the consolidated case against “SS Bears” and their commander Alexander Kravtsov would be held behind closed doors. Kravtsov’s case was referred to the Donetsk People’s Republic Supreme Court on July 25.

“SS Bears” extremist group members were detained as they were leaving the Azovstal enterprise in Mariupol where gunmen of the Azov organization (banned in the DPR) had been blocked. Preliminary investigation found that in the period from autumn 2017 to May 20, 2022, members of the group took part in the armed conflict and fought against the DPR, adhering to Nazi ideology and man-hateful ideas. The case against the gunmen was passed to the DPR Supreme Court in early July.

The charges against “SS Bears” commander Alexander Kravtsov were brought under three articles of the DPR Criminal Code and include participation in an illegal paramilitary formation and actions to overthrow the Republic’s constitutional order.  He admitted his guilt.

All gunmen are facing capital punishment.*jk
