Donetsk, Jun 9 — DAN. Ukrainian armed formations have shelled 16 settlements in the Donetsk People’s Republic on Thursday.

Military situation

Kiev forces opened fire at DPR areas after 8:00. Sixteen settlements were targeted including Donetsk, Makeyevka, Gorlovka, Yasinovataya and Krasny Liman. The enemy used “Grad” multiple rocket launchers, 152mm and 122mm artillery and mortars expending more than 300 rounds of ammunition.

Two civilians were killed and one was wounded in Krasny Liman and one civilian was wounded in Gorlovka. Gorlovka mayor Ivan Prikhodko urged residents to donate blood as the number of the wounded sharply increased. Ukrainian army strikes damaged 16 houses, a firefighting unit and civil infrastructure facilities.

One woman was killed and another was wounded as Donetsk’s Kalininsky district came under fire.

The coalition forces achieved new success in the north of the Donetsk People’s Republic. They now fully control Svyatogorsk and the adjacent Tatyanovka village. As of now, 231 settlements have been liberated in the Republic. The fighting for Slavyansk is ongoing.

Other events

Promsvyazbank (PSB) is the first Russian bank which began operation in the Donbass Republics. PSB plans to provide a broad range of services, from credit card processing to mortgage loans. DPR Head Denis Pushilin hopes that it will give an impetus to the economy and improve the quality of people’s lives.

The DPR will complete the construction of a new water line to the Seversky Donets — Donbass canal by the end of the summer. The water line is being built by specialists of the Russian Defense Ministry’s Military Construction Complex. In Krasny Liman, specialists consider restoring electricity supply with the assistance of the Lugansk People’s Republic. An inspection of war-damaged facilities has begun in the town as the first step towards repairs.

British nationals Shaun Pinner and Aiden Aslin and Moroccan citizen Saadun Brahim who fought on the side of Ukraine have been sentenced to death.  The court found that the mercenaries’ actions led to civilian casualties and damaged social and civil infrastructure in the Republic.

The DPR Culture Ministry will conduct an all-republican cultural dictation on the occasion of Russia Day.
