Donetsk, Dec 20 – DAN. Donetsk has finished the reconstruction of ten-story buildings in the city center; the families from the block on Vzletnaya street next to the Donetsk airport, who lost their homes to war, are moving in their new apartments.

Deputy Chairman of the DPR Council of Ministers Dmitry Trapeznikov, the minister of construction and utility services Sergey Naumets, acting Donetsk mayor Alexey Kulemzin took part in the ceremony of handing over the first keys to the residents of the newly repaired houses.

"The houses were built in accordance with construction standards and to provide comfortable living conditions. As of today, keys to 118 apartments have been distributed," Trapeznikov said.

The reconstruction began in May 2017, 149 apartments have been prepared since: 119 one room, 29 two room and one five room apartments. Ninety percent of new residents are families who used to live in the so-called "ninth house": a block of flats on on Vzlyetnaya street in Donetsk. The house, known as "the ninth", was located near the Donetsk airport and was destroyed in the active military action, which took place in the area, leaving 137 families homeless.

Ten percent are internally displaced persons from DPR townships.

"The reconstruction was worth 107 mln rubles. We can see everything has been done properly. Any deficiencies would have to be completed by the contractor," Trapeznikov said.

"I am the owner of apartment No.5 on Rozy Luxemburg street 2a. I thank the administration on behalf of the residents of the both houses," said Ludmila Buldovskaya.

The premises have a completed interior finishing, sanitary facilities and ovens installed, plots of land lying round the house have been cleaned and decorated, a children's playground is available.
