Donetsk, Feb 6 — DAN. A record eight billion rubles ($113 million) have been allocated for rebuilding infrastructure and social facilities in the Volnovakha district of the Donetsk People’s Republic this year, an official told the Donetsk New Agency on Monday.

“The administration has drawn a list of facilities for rebuilding in the Volnovakha district in 2023 and submitted it for approval, ” said Volnovakha district head Konstantin Zinchenko.  “According to preliminary estimates, the works will cost 8,050,944,000.00 Russian rubles.”

The program includes the construction of an inclusive resource center and school No 1 which will be named after Hero of Russia Vladimir Zhoga. Repairs will be implemented on medical centers, schools, sport facilities, kindergartens, power lines etc, Zinchenko said.

Volnovakha district is located southwest of Donetsk. The DPR took control of its administrative center, the town of Volnovakha, on March 11, 2022, and liberated a large part of the district the next day. It is a key rail and motor transport hub on the way to Mariupol. Fighting in the town left 85 percent of buildings damaged including 19 hospitals, kindergartens and schools.*jk
