Donetsk, Jun 7 – DAN. Donetsk water treatment plant (DFS) has resumed operation, said water supply state company Donbass Water.

"Thanks God, despite all the shelling, we managed to re-launch the DFS. We managed to carry out all preparatory works, including filters clearing and water chlorination."

A representative of the company said the shelling still continues. The repair team couldn't be evacuated immediately, and the management of the company is going to address the JCCC.

The DFS was halted on June 2, as Kiev forces targeted power lines supplying the plant. The JCCC Russian and DPR sides tried to establish a dialog with the Ukrainian side and to guarantee security in the area. Still, the shelling continued.

Donetsk water treatment plant, located between Yasinovataya and Kiev-controlled Avdeyevka has long been a trouble spot on the contact line in Donbass. It supplies water to both sides of the contact line, DPR-controlled Donetsk and Yasinovataya and Vasilyevka and Spartak villages, and Kiev-controlled Avdeyevka, Krasnogorovka and Verkhnetoretskoye village. DFS often comes under Ukrainian forces fire, though it stores chlorine. Overall, more than 370 rounds have hit the plant’s territory in the course of the conflict. *ot
