Donetsk, Sep 20 — DAN. Donbass residents have long made their choice, and have firmed their resolve during the years of Ukraine’s armed aggression to build their future with Russia, chairman of the Donetsk People’s Republic Federation of Trade Unions Maxim Parshin said on Tuesday.

“On behalf of the DPR Federation of Trade Unions which brings together some 300,000 members — workers in education, health care, culture, public utilities, machine-building, metallurgical and coal industry, railways etc, I express the general opinion in support of holding the referendum over the Donetsk People’s Republic joining the Russian Federation, ” Parshin said.

Parshin believes that the referendum will put an end to all woes and troubles experienced since 2014 and “bring the much-awaited peace to our long-suffering land.”

At the extraordinary session earlier on Tuesday, the DPR parliament passed the law on the referendum in the Republic setting the dates for voting from September 23 to September 27.

On Monday, the Public Chambers of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republic brought forward the initiative to hold referenda over the Republics’ joining the Russian Federation. On the same day, DPR Head Denis Pushilin offered LPR leader Leonid Pasechnik to join efforts in preparing for the plebiscite.*jk
