Yunokommunarovsk, Mar 28 - DAN. DPR will rebuild more than 4,000 houses as part of the ongoing programme to restore the Republic’s war-torn infrastructure, DPR head Alexander Zakharchenko told reporters on Tuesday.

“More than 4,000 houses will be restored during the third stage of the rebuilding programme, including over 1,800 apartment buildings,” Zakharchenko said.

In August 2015, DPR launched the second stage of the project to rebuild 1,189 multi-storey houses and 436 key infrastructure facilities ruined by Ukrainian forces’ shelling. DPR authorities said the works would be completed in spring 2017, but the deadline was pushed back as the contact line situation deteriorated.

Earlier, the Construction, Housing and Utilities Ministry said more than 24,000 houses had been damaged or destroyed during the conflict, including 4,500 apartment houses, mostly in Donetsk, Gorlovka, Makeyevka and Debaltsevo. *jk
