Donetsk, Nov 22 – DAN. The DPR is to hold mass sport event for disabled people on the eve of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Donetsk adaptation sport center announced.

"On Friday, December 1, the capital will see a mass sport event for disabled people within the framework of the humanitarian program for the reunification of Donbass people, scheduled shortly before the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, December 3."

The competition will take place in Donetsk Athletics Sport Center, people with audial, visual and physical challenges are eligible to participate, whether they come from the DPR or Donetsk region. Sportsmen can take part in running, pull-up, ball throwing, bending and straightening arms, long jump and other challenges.

Winners will be awarded medals and certificates.

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated on December 3 since 1992, under the United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3. It aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development, and to increase awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.

On February 17 DPR and LPR Heads approved the humanitarian aid program aimed to assist people living in Kiev-controlled territories. The main objective is to provide financial aid and educational assistance to vulnerable social groups. On February 21 the program was officially presented to people, hotlines and websites associated with the program were launched. *ot
