Donetsk, Oct 17 - DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic medics provided medical assistance to more than 4,000 residents of Kiev-controlled areas in 2019, DPR Healthcare Minister Olga Dolgoshapko told reporters on Thursday.

“Over the first nine months of this year, more than 4,000 compatriots received assistance at the Republic’s medical centres under the Donbass people reunification humanitarian programme,” Dolgoshapko said.

The DPR has been implementing the humanitarian programme since February 2017. Its objective is to help civilians in Kiev-held areas by strengthening cultural, humanitarian and professional ties and providing social and public services. For example, the DPR provides medical, financial and legal support.

The health care segment of the programme envisions medical assistance in 12 areas including cancer surgery, obstetrics, chemotherapy, gynaecological surgery, prosthetics and vaccination.*jk
