Donetsk, Apr 27 - DAN. Twenty-two World War II veterans from Kiev-controlled part of Donetsk Region have collected their financial aid packages since DPR launched the welfare and administrative services centres to help implement the Donbass people reunification humanitarian programme.

“Twenty-two veterans received Victory Day lumpsum payments personally or by proxy,” DPR Labour and Social Policy Ministry press service said on Thursday.
One such payment was made at Oktyabr crossing point in DPR south earlier in the day. The recipient requested his son-in-law to collect a 5,000-hryvna benefit.

On 26 April, a veteran’s nephew collected the payment at Elenovka crossing point and on 25 April, the son of an antiaircraft artillery division veteran who fought in January through May 1945 collected the payment at Mayorsk crossing point.

Under the programme announced by DPR and LPR leaders Alexander Zakharchenko and Igor Plotnitskiy on 17 February 2017, World War II veterans from Kiev-held part of Donetsk Region are entitled to lumpsum payments.

The payment, worth 10,000 roubles, can be collected from 15 March through 30 September. It is available in Ukrainian currency at 1/2 exchange rate upon request. *jk
