Donetsk, Sep 28 - DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic ombudswoman Darya Morozova urged the international community on Friday to give a legal assessment of the September 27 attack on DPR ambulance by Kiev forces in which two militiamen were killed and one was wounded.

“I’m calling upon the international community to react to the outrageous violation of the basic right of the Republic’s residents, the right to life,” Morozova said. “I’ve already sent official letters to international organisations, such as the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the International Committee of the Red Cross requesting them to give a legal assessment of yet another Ukrainian army attack on an ambulance.”

In her opinion, the aimed fire at the vehicle which had ambulance markings showed Kiev’s deliberate violation of international humanitarian law which regulated protection of the wounded in armed conflict. “I believe this case constitutes a war crime,” the ombudswoman said.

On September 27, 2018, Ukrainian forces opened fire at the Kominternovo village area in the south of the Republic wounding a DPR militiaman. An ambulance was sent to the scene to provide assistance and evacuate the man. The vehicle came under Ukrainian forces fire in which two militiamen were killed and one was wounded.*jk
