Donetsk, Apr 27 — DAN. The Donetsk People’s Republic is not considering the autumn callup due to the large-scale mobilization carried out last year, DPR Acting Head Denis Pushilin said during his live question and answer session on Thursday.
“As for the callup, the Republic has special conditions due to the objective reasons, given the large scale of the mobilization campaign, ” Pushilin said adding that in the spring, young people and specialists would not be drafted for sure, and that there were no plans for conscription in the autumn.”
The large-scale mobilization in the region created a shortage of specialists, he said. After the DPR’s accession to Russia, President Vladimir Putin ordered to return more than 2,000 mobilized students to their places of study.
Earlier, DPR authorities approved the conscription measures in 2023 to register citizens of fighting age and reservists without sending them to army units. Under the federal law on the DPR’s accession to Russia, conscription to military service in the DPR begins from 2023. However, chairman of the Russian parliament committee on defense Andrey Kartapolov said in March 2023 that there would be “no army callups in the DPR, LPR and Zaporozhye and Kherson regions until further notice.” *jk
