Donetsk, Jun 23 - DAN. DPR lawmakers endorsed the law to double the excise tax on tobacco products imported in DPR, with 84 MPs voting to support the document.
The draft law was introduced by Donetsk Republic parliamentary group deputy Marina Zheinova.
She told DAN that the excise tax shall be increased from 5 USD to 10 USD per 1,000 items.
"The decision is to protect DPR interests in the sphere of excisable goods taxes. Maybe it will motivate some people to give up smoking."
The amendments were passed in two readings and the documents is now to be signed by DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko. It is to come into power upon publishing on the Parliament website. *ot
