Donetsk, Sep 14 — DAN. The Supreme Court of the Donetsk People’s Republic has sentenced a Ukrainian serviceman to 22 years in prison for killing an elderly man in Mariupol last year, the Investigative Committee (SK) press service reported on Thursday.

“The court said that the evidence gathered by the SK was sufficient for passing a verdict on serviceman of the Ukrainian army’s 56th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade Mikhail Chistoplyasov, ” the press service said. “He was found guilty of use of banned means and methods of warfare, cruel treatment of civilians and hate murder.”

In March 2022, Chistoplyasov fired at a 69-year-old Mariupol resident who was riding a bike near the Ilyich Metal Works. The man died of his wounds on the spot, investigators said.

Chistoplyasov pleaded guilty to the crime.*jk
