Donetsk, Oct 24 - DAN. Donetsk Water Treatment Plant (DFS) suspended operation on Tuesday morning as equipment repairs began at the 330 kW electrical substation in Makeyevka, a Voda Donbassa water supply company representative told Donetsk News Agency.

“DFS suspended operation in the morning as the electric substation in Makeyevka began equipment overhaul,” the representative said.

“Regular electricity cutoffs can be avoided if an extra transmission line is restored,” he said.

“Just one power line currently feeds DFS. There were three before the Donbass war. Due to a lack of backup power supply, DFS has to suspend operation every time it has to carry out repairs at one of its affiliates. Restoration of at least one power supply line can help avoid cutoffs,” the company official said.

DFS supplies water to both sides of the contact line, DPR-controlled Donetsk and Yasinovataya and Vasilyevka and Spartak villages, and Kiev-controlled Avdeyevka, Krasnogorovka and Verkhnetoretskoye village. Over the period of the Donbass conflict, more than 370 impacts of explosive ordnance on DFS premises were recorded.*jk
