Donetsk, Oct 19 - DAN. Medics of DPR’s Bondar Republican Cancer Centre provided assistance to 93 residents of Kiev-controlled part of Donetsk Region under the aegis of the humanitarian programme, the Republic’s Health Care Ministry said on Thursday.
“The Bondar Republican Cancer Centre has been vigorously involved in the implementation of the Donbass people reunification humanitarian programme since it was launched,” the press service said. “As of now, treatment has been provided to 89 patients living in Ukraine-controlled part of Donetsk Region.”
Cancer Centre chief doctor Igor Sedakov said an endoscope for visual examination of internal organs and an early stage tumours detector had been recently supplied to the Centre. The treatment provided under the aegis of the humanitarian programme is free of charge, Sedakov said.
“I was advised to seek medical assistance in Donetsk, because it has better equipment than in Mariupol hospital as well as skilled specialists. The Centre is providing the necessary medications; I’m not paying for the treatment; many thanks for the humanitarian programme,” the press service quoted a resident of Ukraine-controlled Volnovakha as saying.
Children’s Republican Clinical Hospital 1st Surgery Unit intern Alexei Cherkun said four cancer patients from Kiev-controlled Donbass areas had taken chemotherapy courses at the Hospital.
On February 17, DPR and LPR Heads Alexander Zakharchenko and Igor Plotnitskiy launched the Donbass people reunification programme. The main goal of the programme is to support socially vulnerable groups. The health care segment of the programme envisions medical assistance in seven fields including obstetrics, chemotherapy and prosthetics.*jk
