Donetsk, May 23 – DAN. The Donetsk water treatment plant (DFS) hasresumed operation, the state water company Voda Donbassa said.

"The DFS was launched at 2 p.m. today."

Drinking water will be pumped into the system after technical procedures are completed, such as tanks cleaning and filling in tubes.

The plant was cut off from the grid on May 20 as the power line sustained damage. Engineers managed to begin repairs only on May 22.

The security situation in the DFS area remains unstable. Reports on Ukrainian shelling have become more frequent.  After five staff members had been injured while on duty on May 17, the Contact Group suggested the area should be designated as the next disengagement of forces and hardware zone.

The DFS supplies water to both sides of the contact line: DPR-controlled Donetsk, Yasinovataya, the Vasilyevka and Spartak villages, parts of Makeyevka, and Kiev-controlled Avdeyevka, Krasnogorovka and the Verkhnetoretskoye villages. The overall number of its customers exceeds 400 thousand.*ot
