Donetsk, Feb 24 – DAN. Ukraiinian forces shelled Donetsk water treatment plant (DFS) supposedly with 122mm artillery, DPR Operations Command deputy commander Eduard Basurin said.
“Eight impacts were recorded on DFS premises, assessed as caused by 122mm rounds. Chlorine storage roof took one hit, clean water reservoir building took two and chemicals and filters storage one; two rounds impacted in vicinity of DFS and two hit the bomb shelter with DFS personnel inside, Basurin said.
DFS came under fire from the direction of Avdeyevka town and Kamenka village, both controlled by Kiev. No casualties among DFS personnel have been reported.
“I'm calling upon international organisations to carry out a thorough investigation to show the world the evidence of Ukrainian forces’ guilt. It is not the first crime against civilians committed by Ukrainian authorities,” Basurin said.
Earlier on Friday, reports said DFS suspended operation due to Ukrainian artillery strikes. DFS administration decided to evacuate the personnel.
Donetsk water treatment plant, located between Yasinovataya and Kiev-controlled Avdeyevka has long been a trouble spot on the contact line in Donbass. It supplies water to both sides of the contact line, DPR-controlled Donetsk and Yasinovataya and Vasilyevka and Spartak villages, and Kiev-controlled Avdeyevka, Krasnogorovka and Verkhnetoretskoye village. DFS repeatedly came under fire and suspended operation.*jk
