Donetsk, Mar 14 – DAN. The Ukrainian army plans to intimidate the staff of the Donetsk water treatment plant (DFS) and then to gain control over the facility and water supply to the Republic, said DPR Operations Command deputy commander Eduard Basurin.
"Kiev forces shell the DFS from positions located several dozen meters away from the plant entrance, that is why security threat is always in place there. This is a well-planned campaign. Ukrainian occupational command has been intimidating the staff for a while making them to refuse working at the DFS."
Basurin said Kiev used the tactic to introduce "its own staff" to the water facility to "gain total control over the water supply to the DPR".
On March 12 and 13 Ukrainian forces opened fire on company’s vehicles transporting personnel to the Donetsk water treatment plant. The incident occurred in close proximity to an object occupied by Ukrainian forces. No casualties were reported, though one of the vehicles sustained damage.
The DPR mission to the JCCC said Ukrainian military deliberately targeted the convoys.
The DFS supplies water to both sides of the contact line: DPR-controlled Donetsk, Yasinovataya, the Vasilyevka and Spartak villages, and Kiev-controlled Avdeyevka, Krasnogorovka and the Verkhnetoretskoye village. *ot
