Donetsk, Aug 17 — DAN. Ukrainian forces fired 300 rounds at the DPR on Wednesday, killing one, and injuring three civilians. DAN presents its evening news summary. 

Here are the key events so far on Wednesday, August 17.

Fighting and victims

The enemy used MLRS, artillery, and mortars to target the DPR, first explosions were heard at 2:35 a.m.

Panteleimonovka, south of Gorlovka, was hit with a Tochka-U missile, a civilian was killed.

Three civilians sustained injuries in Donetsk.

About 22,500 customers remain without power.

The enemy scattered butterfly mines again, the anti-personnel “Petal” mines were detected along the Kremlyovskiy av. in Donetsk.

Offensive ongoing

The coalition liberated the settlement of Vershina south-east of Artyomovsk. Mass defection of Ukrainian troops was reported in the area.

The Coalition intercepted a ballistic missile and Uragan missiles over Donbass, and downed a number of UAVs.

Humanitarian situation

The ZooFriend project of Russian zoo activists is preparing to send in a humanitarian cargo with veterinary medications, feeders and other essentials. 

The Nizhny Novgorod headquarters of the All-Russian Public Movement “People’s Front” handed over ammunition and office equipment to the servicemen of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the DPR: computers, tablets, chargers, a quadcopter, binoculars, radio stations, etc. Along with the technical equipment, the fighters also received drawings and postcards with the wishes of victory from Russian schoolchildren.

The Moscow company Stroy-Service replaced a damaged heating main at two sites in Mariupol: along the Nakhimov Avenue and the Morskikh Desantnikov Street, as well as in the area of   school No. 15 in Cheryomushki. 

Two dozen employees of the state service of security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the DPR donated blood for wounded servicemen. 

Other news

The Civic Chamber of the Kursk region and the “Donetsk Republic” social movement  signed an agreement of cooperation to develop the non-profit sector and civil society institutions.

Also, an agreement was signed on joint activities for legal support between the movement and the All-Russian public organization “National Human Rights Union ‘Man and Law’”.

Departmental awards of the Ministry of Coal and Energy were awarded to five employees of the Priazovskie Electric Networks for their contribution to the restoration of the energy supply of Mariupol.

Residents of three cities of the DPR came today to rallies. In Khartsyzsk and Kirovsky, they honoured the memory of victims of a Ukrainian artillery attack, and in Yasinovataya, they thanked the military who liberated the city from Ukrainian armed formations. *ot
