Donetsk, Feb 19 – DAN. Almost a thousand households and social objects damaged during the war have been restored in Debaltsevo, the local public services department said.
"After the military action there was a lot of damage and ruins. As of today, 69 multi-apartment buildings, 796 private houses have been restored, 46 have been built anew to replace destroyed houses, 52 social objects have been repaired in the town."
According to Debaltsevo authorities, there are 3,452 residential houses and social institutions in the town, almost 2,000 were damaged or destroyed during the war. Restoration is still underway, 73 objects are currently being repaired.
Today DPR residents celebrate the third anniversary of liberating Debaltsevo from Ukrainian army.
Debaltsevo was liberated on February 18, 2015 and the expulsion of Ukrainian forces finalized the DPR-LPR operation to block the Debaltsevo bulge. Fighting lasted for three weeks, the Ukrainian army suffering major losses. Finally the enemy was forced to escape from the battle leaving military equipment and arms behind, blasting communications and destroying almost 80 percent of the buildings. Several hundred Ukrainian soldiers surrendered.
The DPR authorities has put the restoration of Debaltsevo on the top priority list. *ot
