Donetsk, Sep 20 — DAN. Some 80,000 single-family homes and apartment buildings have been damaged in the Donetsk People’s Republic in Ukrainian artillery attacks since 2014; the figure does not include damage estimates in liberated areas, DPR Head Denis Pushilin said in an appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian people on Tuesday.

“Every day, I repeat — every day, Ukrainian artillery blacks out hundreds of electrical substations and damages high voltage transmission lines leaving dozens of thousand customers without electricity, ” Pushilin wrote on Telegram. “In our historical territory alone, not counting the liberated settlements, some 8,000 apartment buildings and more than 72,000 single-family homes were damaged.”

He added that hundreds of records had been gathered in liberated areas about Ukrainian gunmen’s firing tank guns at apartment houses at point-blank range and setting fire on whatever had not been destroyed by shelling. “These monsters behave similarly now shelling our settlements without any military need, ” the DPR leader said.

In his appeal, Pushilin asked Putin to let the DPR join Russia as soon as possible if the DPR people vote for it at the upcoming referendum.*jk
