Donetsk, Oct 23 - DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic doctors have provided quality medical assistance to nearly 5,000 residents of Kiev-held Donbass areas under the aegis of the Donbass people reunification programme since last winter, the DPR Health Care Ministry press service reported on Tuesday.

“Overall, 4,942 patients have received treatment under the aegis of the humanitarian programme; of those, 560 were treated in 2017 and another 4,382 in 2018,” the report said.

The assistance is provided by specialists of top DPR health centres such as The Bondar Republican Oncology Centre, the Republican Traumatology Centre, the Donetsk Clinical Territorial Medial Association, the Republican Children's Clinical Hospital, the Gusak Emergency and Restorative Surgery Institute and the Donetsk Republican Maternity and Childhood Centre.

Earlier reports said that the DPR Maternity and Childhood Centre had helped 371 women from Kiev-held Donbass areas since February 2017.

In February 2017, the Donetsk People’s Republic launched the Donbass people reunification programme to support socially vulnerable groups of the population. The health care segment of the programme envisions medical assistance in 12 fields including obstetrics, chemotherapy and prosthetics. *jk
