Donetsk, Jul 28 - DAN. Thirty-three women from Kiev-held territory of Donetsk Region successfully gave birth at the Donetsk Republican Maternal and Child Health Centre, the facility’s obstetrician and gynaecologist Oksana Trushkina said on Friday.
“Thirty-three women with various concurrent diseases, such as diabetes, cardiac defect, etc were successfully guided through the delivery at the Donetsk Republican Centre for Maternal and Child Health Centre,” Trushkina said.
On Thursday, Caesarean section surgery was performed on a patient from Kiev-held territory; the mother and the newborn baby feel well, she said.
“Thanks to DPR doctors, I did not have to go to Kiev or Odessa, because a patient with cardiac defect can only be assisted by skilled specialists,” the Ministry’s press service quoted the Ukrainian mother as saying.
“When I came to Donetsk for consultation for the first time, doctors promptly reassured me that my health condition was good and that I would have no problem with Caesarean section. I bow to the doctors for helping me give birth to a healthy baby and saving my life,” she said.
According to the DPR Health Care Ministry, skilled medical assistance within the scope of the ongoing humanitarian programme was provided to 174 patients, including 94 from Kiev-held part of Donetsk Region.
On February 17, DPR and LPR Heads Alexander Zakharchenko and Igor Plotnitskiy launched the Donbass people reunification programme. The main goal of the programme is to support socially vulnerable groups. The health care segment of the programme envisions medical assistance in seven fields including obstetrics, chemotherapy and prosthetics.*jk
