Donetsk, Apr 3 - DAN. Fourteen victims and witnesses were questioned at the Tuesday session of the Ukrainian People’s Tribunal for investigating the Poroshenko regime’s war crimes against Ukrainian citizens (UPT). The Tribunal has adjourned.

“The UPT has reviewed the section of charges concerning tortures, lootings and robberies and heard the testimonies of 14 victims and witnesses. It also reviewed videos and photos. The UTP has fully completed the work,” UPT judge Lyubov Batyashova told the Donetsk News Agency.

The Tribunal will meet for the next session on April 14 to review the fourth batch of charges concerning war propaganda.

At the Tuesday hearing, the UPT heard charges of tortures, lootings and robberies. The suspects are charged with the commission of acts punishable under the following articles of Ukraine’s Criminal Code:


  • Article 27 Part 5; Article 187 (robbery);

  • Article 27, Part 5; Article 257 (banditry);

  • Article 127, Part 5 (tortures);

  • Article 27, Part 5; Article 194 (malicious destruction of or damage to property),

  • Article 27, Part 5; Article 433 (use of violence against population in the war zone);

  • Article 146 (illegal deprivation of freedom or abduction);

  • Article 147 (hostage taking);

  • Article 434 (maltreatment of prisoners-of-war);

  • Article 27, Part 5, Article 258 (act of terror);

  • Articles 258-5 (funding of terrorism).


Earlier, the UPT heard the charges of the use of armed forces against civilians and crimes committed by illegal paramilitary and armed formations.

The Ukrainian People’s Tribunal brought against Ukrainian president Petr Poroshenko, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, National Security and Defence Council Secretary Alexander Turchinov, Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman, Chief of the General Staff Viktor Muzhenko, Defence Minister Stepan Poltorak, parliament speaker Andrey Parubiy and former Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

The UPT set up by the initiative group of Ukrainian citizens living in Donetsk and Lugansk is reviewing cases in accordance with the Ukrainian legislation and norms of international law.*jk
