Donetsk, May 25 - DAN. Russia’s Central Election Commission is working on the options to arrange the participation of Russian citizens living in the Donbass Republics in the upcoming elections to the State Duma lower house of the Russian parliament, CEC chairwoman Ella Pamfilova said on Tuesday.

“Proposals abound, and we cannot ignore the opinion of people (Russian citizens living in the DPR and the LPR - eds Donetsk News Agency). Indeed, we’re also designing a traditional form of voting in the territory of the Rostov region; we already have such experience,” Russia’s news agency TASS quoted Pamfilova as saying.

The Rostov region is setting up special voter stations for Russian citizens from Donbass who can arrive in person. “We’re currently working on extra options,” she said.

“The technical problem is that we need to find a verification method because people have to be registered at the government services portal; it’s a must; the place of registration has to be designated,"
 the CEC chairwoman said.

As of late March, nearly 250,000 residents of the DPR had been granted fast track Russian citizenship.

Russia’s parliamentary election is scheduled for September 2021.*jk
