Donetsk, Jun 18 - DAN. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s refusal to have a peace dialogue with the Donbass Republics is at odds with his statement on the readiness to fulfil the Minsk Agreements, head of the Donetsk People’s Republic parliament committee on external policy, international relations, information policy and technology Vladislav Berdichevsky told the Donetsk News Agency on Tuesday.
“The Minsk talks envision a dialogue between the parties to the conflict, with third-party mediation,” Berdichevsky said. “Zelensky refusal to talk with the “separatists” dismisses the work at the Minsk venue, which is an obvious contradiction.”
A possible cause behind the contradiction is Zelensky’s insufficient knowledge of the terms of the Agreements. “Perhaps, he had not been properly prepared for the press conference; he might want to look more closely at the essence of the Minsk talks,” the parliamentarian said.
After a meeting with the French president on Monday Zelensky said that Ukraine was not ready for direct dialogue with the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. DPR Head Denis Pushilin expressed disappointment with the Ukrainian leader’s policy, saying that it was not possible to make headway in resolving the conflict without changing the approach and launching direct dialogue with the Donbass Republics.*jk
