Donetsk, Oct 30 – DAN. The security subgroup of the Contact Group is to hold an emergency meeting today at 6 p.m., said DPR Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova.
"Today at 6 p.m. an emergency meeting of the security subgroup is expected to take place."
The only issue on the agenda is reaching an agreement on the coordination mechanism functioning to facilitate a large-scale communication between the sides of the conflict, including joint inspections to confirm or rebut violations and to coordinate a renewed package of measures to attain a durable ceasefire.
"The security situation along the Contact Line deteriorated", according to Nikonorova, as Ukraine retracted from the Additional Measures agreements due to the lack of mutual understanding on the coordination mechanism functioning. The mechanism was supposed to avert violations relying on the JCCC capacities.
"We must harmonize details of the mechanism functionality to prevent ceasefire violations," she said.
The Additional Measures to Strengthen the Ceasefire were signed at the Contact Group meeting on July 22 to reinforce and control the indefinite ceasefire in effect since July 21, 2019, the latest in the series of more than 20 reconfirmation and announcements of the “silence regime”. The package came into effect on July 27. *ot
