Donetsk, Sep 25 — DAN. The elections in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics and the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions were held fully in line with Russian laws, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Monday.
“The elections took place absolutely within the legal framework, in accordance with our laws, ” Peskov said. “The regions have got their leaders; we wish them success.”
Russia will continue to render assistance to the new territories, he said adding that the work to ensure quick integration and overcome the troubles caused by the Kiev regime would run on a permanent basis.
Earlier on Monday, speaker of the Federation Council upper house of the Russian parliament Valentina Matviyenko said that the new regions had established a full-fledged system of government bodies following the elections.*jk
