Donetsk, Dec 7 – DAN. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s team is making a serious mistake by allocating significant funds for the military instead of developing the state's economy, said the head of the Central Executive Committee of the "Donetsk Republic" Social Movement Alexey Muratov.
Earlier the speaker of the Verkhovnaya Rada Dmitry Razumkov urged to increase defense spending in the draft state budget for 2021 up to 5 pc of the GDP. According to the speaker, the Ministry of Finance has already received a relevant application.
“Let's pay attention to the fact that the 2021 Ukrainian state budget includes almost no initiatives aimed at stimulating the growth of the country's economy and the welfare of Ukrainians. People's "servants" (representatives of the Ukrainian pro-presidential party "Servant of the People") intend to replenish the state budget by raising taxes. Do ordinary citizens have money, most of whom have been left without work and without means due to the coronavirus crisis? Definitely not. Ukrainians, in the literal sense of the word, strive to survive today,” Muratov said.
He believes that the government has put the citizens in a hopeless situation to make them consider military jobs with minimal allowances. Zelensky continues the aggressive policy of his predecessor, the fifth president of Ukraine, Petr Poroshenko, and financially benefits from the war, and the state budget for 2021 proves he has no intentions to end the conflict in Donbass.
“The only thing Zelensky’s accomplices forget is that Ukrainians are sick and tired of the corruption and endless lies, selling the country and the war that in 2021 Ze&Co will see people’s riot, not the continuation of the war, and will be driven from the throne.”
According to international standards, countries allocating more than 4 pc of GDP to the defense are considered militaristic. Most NATO member states spend less than 2 pc of GDP on defence. *ot
